Instantly recognisable, the iconic Eiffel Tower monument, built by Gustave Eiffel’s engineering company, was officially unveiled in 1889. Like a homing beacon, it draws in tourists like perhaps no other monument in France. It also happens to be located in a central spot right by the Seine River, making the locale a great place from which to explore Paris.
Although accommodation in the area can be rather pricey, hostels in Paris are great value and therefore we have compiled a list of the best five near the Eiffel Tower. Location and price and key factors in our reckoning, but amenities, previous guest reviews from the last six months and the cleanliness are other important considerations.
Paranjib Guesthouse
Dorms from €31/ night
Cosy Paranjib Guesthouse offers basic bunk beds in tile-floored dorm rooms. The rooms, which hold between five and nine guests, don’t feel too cramped, which is a bonus for Paris. There is a nice terrace and garden and a shared kitchen available to guests, although a free breakfast is provided and has proven rather popular with previous guests. Free wifi is available throughout the hostel and there’s a metro station just a few blocks away from the hostel.
Aloha
Dorms from €31/ night
Although one may expect a tiki themed hostel based on the name, the rooms and décor are simple and come without frills. While there are not too many shared facilities for guests aside from the reception area and bathrooms, the rooms are fairly cosy and the free breakfast in the mornings, although basic, brings added value for money. This is one of the closer hostels to the Eiffel Tower although it is still a couple of kms away.
Hostel Eiffel
Rooms from €62/ night
As the name suggests, the hostel has a closer proximity to Paris’s most famous landmark. However it is still 20 minutes away on foot. As the price suggests, this site is not exactly your average hostel. Strictly speaking it is a hotel, but with many qualities of a hostel. The rooms available are all private but with shared bathrooms, common areas and an onsite bar. Free wifi is available in the hostel rooms and a good breakfast is included in the price.
Arty Paris
Dorms from €35/ night
Arty Paris is a great choice for anybody looking for the full hostel experience that includes excellent amenities and the opportunity to meet other travellers. The shared lounge area has a large TV and fußball table and there’s an onsite bar. A good range of dorm rooms include beds for between four and ten people with a shared bathroom, as well as privates with their own bathrooms. Beds, especially in the private rooms, are comfy and clean. The décor is fun and lends the place a playful, upbeat vibe.
The 3 Ducks Eiffel Tower
Dorms from €41/ night
Describing itself as a boutique hostel, from the outside The 3 Ducks cuts an elegant modern figure. The interior maintains this image with lively art and decoration. The 3 Ducks is a great, modern hostel with loads of good facilities like a patio with barbecue, garden, library, bar and a shared kitchen for guest use. Most dorms have their own bathroom, have hairdryers and are air conditioned. The slightly higher price becomes even more understandable in light of the good breakfast include for free each morning.
