Oozing history and charm, the city of Rochester is one of New York State’s most visited destinations, and for people wishing to hire a car here, there are several rental agencies to pick from.

Rochester’s rental car agencies can be found both around the airport, located three miles southwest of the city centre, and in its residential suburbs. If you’re thinking of coming to Rochester any time soon and would like to arrange your rental car ahead of travelling, we’ve looked at all the companies based here and picked out the best in two specific areas of the city: the airport and the Eastside suburbs. Here’s our verdict below.
Rochester Airport: Budget
For visitors travelling into Rochester by air who are keen to find a cheap car rental at the airport for a quick getaway after landing, we’ve selected Budget as our number one pick. Their offices are located within the main terminal at Rochester Airport, where they are open from 7.30am to 12.30am daily. When we searched for available cars, we found a wide range of vehicles catering to all budgets. Among them were a Ford Fiesta, priced at $327 per week, or for something larger, there was a Hyundai Elantra that was actually cheaper at $295 per week for the same dates. If it’s an SUV you’re after, then we also found a Ford Escape costing $334 per week. Budget’s operations at Rochester Airport also come with strong customer feedback.
East Ridge Road: Hertz
If you’d rather rent a car from somewhere in the city itself, there are several car hire agencies dotted around Rochester. Our recommendation is Hertz, located on East Ridge Road in the northern reaches of the city, and open every day of the week except for Sundays. Hertz offer a large selection of vehicles for hire from here, ranging from small city run-arounds to sports and luxury cars to SUVs to EVs, as well as vans, trucks and more. Among the deals we found during our online search were a Chevrolet Spark for $488 per week, a Mazda sedan for $497 and a Buick Encore SUV for $570 per week.
