Finding somewhere to park in downtown Fort Worth that won’t break the bank can be a bit of a challenge – so here are some useful tips to help you.
The options for short-term parking in downtown Fort Worth mainly come down to metred street parking or dedicated garages. There are a large number of metered street parking spaces available across the district, with most enforced from 8am to 6pm on weekdays. Red metered spaces are available for up to one hour and cost $2 per hour; orange meters for up to two hours at $2 per hour; blue meters for up to four hours at $1 per hour; and green meters for up to ten hours for 50 cents per hour. On weekends, all metered parking spaces are free of charge.
Alternatively, if you prefer the security of off-street covered parking and don’t mind paying for the privilege, there are a number of multi-storey car parks and covered garages in downtown Fort Worth that offer pre-bookable short term parking. Our number one suggestion is City Center Garage, where you’ll pay $3 per hour, or $15 for 24 hours. For a little extra, another garage we’d recommend is the Convention Center Garage, which costs $9 per hour or $22 for 24 hours.
You can book both garages on Spothero.com, as well as at several other parking lots in downtown Fort Worth
Free parking in downtown Fort Worth
If you can hold off on driving into downtown Fort Worth until the weekend, then the options for free parking in the area increase significantly. This is because all metered parking across downtown is completely free of charge on Saturdays and Sundays, while even some covered garages and multi-storey car parks have an amnesty on payment during weekends – and even some evenings – too. Additionally, if you’re only popping into downtown for a short time, then in the West 7th Street area you can take advantage of two hours’ free parking between 10am and 5pm on weekdays.
Long-stay parking in downtown Fort Worth
If you’re staying in Forth Worth for more than a couple of weeks, but your hotel doesn’t offer private on-site parking, it’s likely to be more affordable for you to find a long-term parking spot, rather than hunting around the city for metred parking every day or paying daily rates in a garage which can really start to add up So, for example, at Sundance Square garage, day rates are $15, but monthly rates start at just $200 – a saving of around $10 per day.
