Home to a treasure trove of historic sites including fortresses, temples and the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, a subterranean complex of ancient halls and burial chambers, Malta is a culture lover’s paradise. But it’s also a place of great natural beauty that can be best appreciated out at sea. For anyone who likes the idea of renting a boat in Malta, we’ve picked out 3 of the best companies to help you.

Click&Boat

A renowned name in the boat rentals sector, Click & Boat is a peer-to-peer platform that lets owners create free listings for their boats by adding pictures, a description, a price, and advice about the local cruising area. Renters can then contact them directly via an online messaging service to ask any questions, as well as view feedback from previous renters. Bareboat rentals are the cheapest option, but you can also have a captain onboard for an additional cost. When we searched for boat rentals in Malta, there were over 250 vessels available, with the cheapest option a motoryacht that can accommodate up to 4 people, available bareboat and priced at €204 per day before fees. No licence is required to helm this boat.

SamBoat

Another well-established industry name, SamBoat lets you search for your ideal boat according to price, size, dates of travel and other requirements. Then, when you’ve found one that meets your needs, you send a booking request to the boat owner. If the request is accepted, you pay the rental fee directly to SamBoat who then deposit it to the owner when your rental period begins. On the day itself, you board the boat and make sure it fits with the descriptions before signing your contract. When we looked for Malta rentals, we found almost 200 available (including both crewed and bareboat charters) with prices starting at €75 per day (before fees) for a 8.2-metre sailing yacht with a skipper that can accommodate an additional three people.
