This long-haul route covers 7829 miles with an average flight time of 14 hours 15 minutes. However, direct options are limited so it’s important to plan far in advance.
Despite multiple indirect flights between Miami and Dubai, there is currently only one direct flight each day. The flight departs from Miami International Airport (MIA) and arrives at Dubai International (DXB), the United Arab Emirates’ main airport. As Miami is very well connected, there are so many ways to get to Dubai with one or two connecting flights. However, due to the volume of possible indirect routes between the two, we’ve decided to focus on the most realistic.
Emirates
Emirates offers the only direct flight from Miami to Dubai each day. The flight departs at 21:10 and arrives in Dubai at 19:25 local time the following evening. As the flight time is over 14 hours, it’s important that you feel comfortable, especially when there are no alternative direct flights. Luckily, the flight uses a Boeing 777-300 ER. Emirates has excellent reviews for its comfort and customer service.
Also highly rated is Emirates’ inflight entertainment service ICE, as well as its inflight meal service and amenity kits, including an eye mask. The luggage allowance is the standard two 23kg bags, with one 7kg entitlement for carry-on baggage. If you prefer to pick your seats in advance, Emirates’ seat selection page has an excellent 360-degree ‘3D’ preview for each seat, so you can pick what view you’d like.
This route offers a choice of Economy or Business Class tickets. It’s worth noting that Emirates is in the process of upgrading its Business Class offerings on its Boeing 777s. There is also no Emirates lounge at Miami Airport, but Business customers can use the Turkish Airlines lounge instead.
The best connecting flight options
If the single direct flight doesn’t serve you, there are other flight options from Florida to Dubai.
The quickest indirect flight is operated by United Airlines and gets you from Miami to Dubai in under 18 hours, with a short change at New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Emirates also offers two daily connecting flights from Miami with changes at Houston and Chicago. These have an average flight duration of 20 hours 30 minutes.
If you can make it to the nearby Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL), United can fly you to Dubai in under 18 hours, changing at Newark en route. The airport is just a half-hour drive from Miami International. Departure is at 17.31 with arrival in Dubai at 19.05 local time, giving you plenty of time to head for dinner feeling fresh.
Another wildcard option for your journey could be the one daily direct flight from Orlando to Dubai. Orlando International Airport (MCO) is a three-and-a-half hour drive or a 55-minute flight from Miami International. The flight leaves Miami at 21:00 and arrives in Dubai at 19:05 local time.
Unlike the direct Miami flight, this route also offers the choice of a First Class ticket. If you’d like to arrive at the City of Gold in style, you’ll have a huge 77kg of luggage in total and the opportunity to consume as much caviar and Dom Perignon as you desire.
