With a distance of 3,200 miles, a direct flight between London and Doha is the quickest way of travelling between Britain’s capital and Qatar’s capital. We’ve analysed the best direct airline options so you don’t have to.
Direct flights from London to Doha are very common, although this popular route is only served by two airlines – British Airways and Qatar Airways. All flights arrive at Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH), departing from either London Heathrow Airport (LHR) or Gatwick Airport (LGW). Departures times for both airlines are spread evenly throughout the day.
British Airways
BA flights to Doha are on a Boeing 777, which is the world’s largest twinjet. For those on a budget, Economy Basic guarantees the cheapest seat at around £500, however, bear in mind this comes with a hand luggage allowance only. The journey itself takes 7 hours and 5 minutes in total. Plenty of time to enjoy BA’s in-flight Wi-Fi system (purchase required) and the airline’s well-regarded High Life entertainment service. In-flight food gets a bad reputation but BA’s is tasty, with a good selection (mini cheese board anybody?) and plenty of flexibility for those with dietary preferences.
Qatar Airways
Flying this route with Qatar is priced similarly to British Airways, although it’s slightly quicker, taking 6 hours 45 minutes in total. Looking to make yourself at home in the sky? Qatar’s ORYX ONE in-flight entertainment (IFE) was voted the best in the Middle East for 2024. Along with the latest Hollywood blockbusters, the IFE offers an excellent array of onboard gaming including Monopoly, Angry Birds World Tour and PAC-MAN®. For wine and dining options, you’ll receive a choice of red and white wines (yes, even in economy) as well as cocktails(!) and the standard two meals throughout the flight. All food onboard is Halal friendly.
