In recent years Malaga has emerged form the shadows of its party town coastal counterparts such as Fuengirola and Benalmádena to become a major hub for start-ups, driven by a youthful energy that imbues the city. This has led to large numbers of people coming to live and work here, many of whom stay for too long for expensive hotels to be an affordable option. Instead, they opt for one of the many short term or monthly apartment rentals on offer throughout the city. Here are three online resources for finding the right property for you.

Blueground

Blueground offer rentals for periods of anything from a month through to a year. Their professionally managed properties span everything from studios to multi-bedroom apartments, and they are particularly known for their luxury apartment options. Stays of longer than a month can result in significant savings, as the longer your booking, the lower the nightly rate. During our search for Malaga properties, we found a limited choice of 6 currently available, including an upscale three-bedroom apartment just north of the city’s historic centre, priced at €2,290 per month. The booking process is straight-forward and there’s a 24-hour guest support service accessed via a dedicated Blueground app.

The Homelike

The Homelike also provide short term rentals for one month or longer, and allow flexible move in and move out dates for maximum convenience. Their service is particularly popular with business travellers, who as a demographic tend to be fussier about their living arrangements since they often move with family. For added expediency, you confirm your booking without requiring the home owner’s approval, and you can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before your move-in date. In contrast with many of competitors, there are no hidden fees to pay, and the rental price quoted includes all utility bills. You can also search for properties that don’t require a deposit. When we searched for properties in Malaga, we found a far wider choice of over 240 available, with prices starting at €1,223 per month for a 1-bedroom apartment in the city centre.

Spotahome

Another platform featuring over 200 monthly furnished apartments on their books across Malaga, Spotahome are a well-established name in the weekly rentals and monthly rentals sector, and are particularly popular for flat shares and student homes. Based on our searches, monthly rates start at €325 for a four-bedroom apartment about four kilometres north of central Malaga. It’s worth noting that rates on Spotahome can drop by as much as 7% for rental periods of 6 months and beyond. However, also note that the company add on admin fees to the advertised rate, so it’s advised to consider these before committing.
