Amsterdam’s beer brewing heritage is rich and layered, stretching back centuries to when local breweries first quenched the thirst of its growing population. While the city is perhaps best known for its golden lagers, today a new wave of craft brewers is reshaping the landscape with bold flavors and inventive styles. Hidden in the city’s neighborhoods, small, independent breweries honor traditional methods while embracing creativity – all of which can be discovered during a craft brewery tour. Check out our review of the Amsterdam Craft Beer Brewery Bus Tour below.

Who operates the tour?

The tour is operated by BrugesBrew Bus Amsterdam B.V., who specialise in taking guests on fun, laid-back guided tours of the city’s best microbreweries. They offer transport between stops by comfortable bus, tastings of local beers and insights from guides who know their stuff.

How many breweries will we visit?

During the tour, you’ll visit a total of three microbreweries in Amsterdam, with beer tastings at each stop. At one of the breweries, you’ll also enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. The breweries visited change daily, offering a surprise line-up each time, but all are local, independent spots that showcase the city’s diverse beer scene.

What beers can I expect to taste?

Guest can expect to sample a wide variety of beers on this tour. The specific beers vary depending on the breweries you visit, as the stops change daily, but you’ll likely encounter styles including IPAs, known for their bold hops and unique flavour profiles; traditional Dutch-style beers, such as variations of Bokbier, a malty, rich beer traditionally brewed in the Netherlands; experimental brews concocted by the many microbreweries in Amsterdam and featuring unusual ingredients like fruits, spices, or even aging in whiskey barrels; classic lagers and pilsners, which are often given a modern twist by local brewers; and dark beers, characterised by rich, roasted flavours perfect for colder days.

When does the tour run?

Tours take place from 2pm to 5pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year.
