Perched on New Jersey’s Atlantic coast, glitzy Atlantic City is a fabulous destination for embarking on a fishing charter.

Widely regarded as one of the best fishing spots on the United States’ eastern coastline, heading out on a fishing excursion is one of the most popular outdoor activities available to Atlantic City visitors. There are a wide number of companies offering fishing charters here, ranging from a couple of hours at sea through to full days or even overnights. We’ve picked out five great opportunities for Atlantic City fishing charters below.
3-Hour morning bay / inshore trip
If you’re short on time or are travelling with children who might not have the patience for a longer fishing expedition, this 3-hour charter could be for you. Setting off early morning, you’ll board a 35’-foot boat that can carry groups of up to six, and cruise just short of 20 knots to get you to the best fishing spots quickly. Over the course of the trip, you’ll stay inshore as you hunt for a variety of fish species including Striped Bass, Bluefish, Flounder, Blue, Weakfish, and other seasonal favourites. Any fish you’d like to take home with you will be prepared on return to the marina.
6-Hour Flounder Fishing

With an early morning departure, this 6-hour adventure takes place aboard the “A-Bomb”, a vessel spacious enough for up to 6 passengers but trips are limited to 4 guests so everyone has plenty of room to fish. The boat runs on a 200 HP Yamaha engine and can reach speeds of 30mph. In addition to Flounder, other possible species you may catch include Bluefish, Black Seabass, Weakfish, small Shark, Rays, Searobin, and more. Families children are welcome and the charter covers your fishing license, as well as all fishing gear, lures, and bait. If you land your dream fish, you can choose to keep the catch or release it
Wreck Fishing
Head offshore to visit one of the many wreck sites off the coast of Atlantic City during this 6-hour fishing charter. Setting off first thing in the morning on a 25-foot Hydra Sport center console model, you’ll cruise along at speeds of up to 30 knots before reaching your target. On arrival, you’ll drift directly above the wreck and drop your lines in the hope of catching some of the myriad of fish swimming in and around the sunken ship. The crew will help you hunt for species including Stripers, Seabass, Flounder, Weakfish, and Porgy, just to name a few. To make your time with the charter pleasurable, the crew will be on hand offering drinks and snacks and there’s also an onboard toilet.
8-Hour Inshore Sharking

This seasonal trip will see you spending a full day on the water and going after some impressive inshore Shark species. Aboard a 35-foot Henriques Downeast vessel with a maximum cruising speed of 20 knots, you can expect to come face-to-gills with the likes of Spinner, Blacktip, Sandbar, Sandtiger, and Thresher sharks. The boat features an enclosed heated cabin, making it a comfortable trip whether you’re out on a breezy day or are seeking some shade during the warm summer months. Your crew will provide rods, reels, and tackle, as well as live bait, lures, and a fishing license.
12-Hour Inshore/Offshore
For an even more extended experience, this epic 12-hour trip is ideal for hardcore anglers who want to squeeze all the juice out of their time in this fishing mecca. During the excursion, you’ll have time to fish both inshore and offshore, targeting Mako Sharks, Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Mahi Mahi, False Albacore, Black Seabass, and more. The trip takes place aboard “Miss Atlantic City”, a 47-foot custom-made sportfishing boat that can accommodate up to 37 passengers and is equipped with bench seating, inside and out, and 4 bunks downstairs for those who need some rest and recuperation over the course of your long day at sea.
