Nestled along the central Oregon coast, Lincoln City is gifted with two bodies of water. Obviously there’s the Pacific Ocean. But there’s also the 685-acre Devils Lake—so called for an old, Native American myth which designated its waters as inhabited by monstrous fish. Today, the three-mile lake is monster-free, and thus much more inviting. It offers vacationers three miles of swimming and aquatic recreation, all of it more distant from ocean winds.
If you can’t decide between lake and ocean, we’re here to help. Below are three recommendations for oceanfront hotels in Lincoln City. All three are close to both bodies of water. No matter where you end up staying, a calming dip or vigorous swim won’t be far away.
Sailor Jack Oceanfront Motel
From $80/ night
Past visitors have praised this motel for its location. It’s only a minute from the beach, with rooms offering views of the Pacific Ocean’s calming blues, and about ten minutes from Devils Lake. But water isn’t the only attraction here: there’s also Chinook Winds Casino a little under two miles away. You needn’t worry about getting there, either: the motel runs a free casino shuttle Friday through Sunday. Feel like spending some of those casino earnings? The Tanger Outlet Mall is just a mile away. After a full day, enjoy relaxing in your room: each comes with a microwave, mini-fridge, DVD player and coffeemaker.
The Coho Oceanfront Lodge
From $125/ night
If you’re looking for a slightly more luxury experience (i.e. not a motel), the Coho Oceanfront Lodge offers some additional amenities. It too is within walking distance of the beach, with a casino shuttle available as well as picturesque, in-room windows for oceanic sights. Speaking of the rooms, the cozy studios here come with the usual flatscreen TV, DVD player and iPod dock. Less standard is the French press included with every room, allowing guests the chance to brew some local coffee (also included) in their room. One reviewer called it “the best in-room coffee I ever had!” If you prefer relaxation to a stimulating cuppa joe, there’s a heated indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and even a spa to help soften your nerves.
Pelican Shores Inn
From $159/ night
Like the other hotels listed here, the Pelican Shores Inn is only a mile from the Chinook Winds Casino. Also similar to the other hotels, Pelican Shores has rooms with ocean views and speedy access to the beach (a private one, at that). A continental breakfast buffet will prepare you for the day ahead, whether going swimming, betting, or to Devils Lake or the Devils Lake Golf Course (both are within two miles of the inn). All in all, the location is an impressive one. According to reviews aggregated online, visitors have rated this aspect of Pelican Shores almost a perfect 10.
