Here are our findings:
Most Affordable: Hertz
Based on our research in both the high and low season, we found that Hertz offer the best value at Eugene Airport when it comes to cheap car hire. In almost all of our searches, Hertz filled out the top 5 spots in the cheapest cars category with rates between $100-150 per day. For a larger and more luxurious car, like the Chevrolet Tahoe, it cost between $160-180 per day. On the whole, customer feedback was above average, although there were a couple of negative comments aimed at the car cleanliness on the popular car rental site, rentalcars.com. As an alternative, we’d recommend Enterprise that had the highest customer feedback score.
Best for Luxury: Alamo
For those looking to head up the Pacific coast in style, then we would recommend Alamo which had the best selection for luxury cars at EUG. On our selected dates, they had the BMW X3, Chevrolet Tahoe and a Cadillac XTS on offer at a little under $300 per day. Rates here are comparatively higher to other parts of the USA, but if you’re willing to take the financial hit and head up Highway 101 towards Portland, then you’ll be rewarded with one of the most stunning drives in the world.
Best for Minivans: Enterprise
Enterprise offer a good range of SUVs and minivans at Eugene Airport, making it the best rental company for families needing extra space for kids’ seats, buggies and extra luggage. Among the vehicles on offer, there is the Dodge Grand Caravan, a 7-seater minivan with sufficient boot space for 2 large bags. At $250 per day, it’s not the cheapest minivan, however, there are more affordable options suitable for smaller families, like the Chevrolet Tahoe and the Hyundai Elantra which are around €200 per day.
