Car Rental in Glendale / Sun City: the best companies

Situated 9 miles from downtown Phoenix, Glendale was recently voted the Best Emerging Travel Destination in the world by Trivago. While you may not encounter world famous attractions here, you will find plenty of historical buildings, antique shops, a booming gastronomy scene and the NFL State Farm Stadium – the Arizona Cardinals home pitch. A little further north of Glendale lie the pleasant and leafy satellite cities, Peoria and Sun City, both of which have been purposely designed for retirees and snowbirds.

Glendale: Hertz

There are a number of Hertz agencies in and around Glendale, however the branch on Glendale Avenue, in the heart of the city, gets the best customer feedback. It has a good choice of rental cars and on the whole, receives positive feedback. Regulars recommend to book well in advance and if possible, to come early, as it can get ex-tremely busy, especially in peak season. On offer, we noticed a sol-id selection of versatile and fuel-efficient cars, but it was the Nissan Pathfinder at $57 that really stood out as the best deal. Opening hours Monday – Friday, 7.30am – 6pm; Saturday 9am – 12pm. Sunday closed.

Peoria: Enterprise

Amongst the advantages of renting outside of the airport are that prices tend to be cheaper and there’s usually a smaller line. Enter-prise’s agency in Peoria is the perfect example, where customers are in and out quickly with a minimum amount of fuss. The parking lot is full of compact and fuel-efficient cars like the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Nissan Versa, and the sporty looking Volkswagen Jetta, which for a few dollars more ($42 per day), looked like the best deal. Opening hours Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; Saturday 8am – 1pm; Sunday closed.

Sun City: Budget

Tagged on to the side of Fry’s Food and Drug Store, close to View Point Lake, you’ll find our selection for the most recommendable car rental agency in Sun City. Founded in the US and loyal to its roots, Budget’s fleet is full of Fords: Fiesta, Taurus, Fusion, Focus, Es-cape, Edge and if you’re looking for something more upmarket, you’ll find the Lincoln MKZ and Chevrolet Tahoe on the forecourt. Budget has some of the cheapest rentals in the US and those prices can be-come even cheaper if you sign up to the Budget Business Club – a program which offers generous rewards to frequent users of their services.
