Located on the western coast of the Big Island, Kailua-Kona is a sunny escape known for its dry climate and water-focused recreational opportunities. You may recognize the name from the famous coffee growing region it adjoins. There’s also great golfing and shopping here.
Condominiums are popular options for vacation rentals in Kailua-Kona. Choose an open floor plan with ocean views, a mountain retreat or stay closer to bustling downtown Kona. Many Kailua-Kona ] rentals offer breezy decks and patios, pools, sundecks, hot tubs and other lavish amenities.
We compared several popular travel sites that book condominiums near Kailua-Kona based on the number of condos available, customer service, pricing and other criteria. Here, we present our top three choices.
VRBO
VRBO is our preferred option for renting condominiums near Kailua-Kona. We found more than 30 vacation properties available to rent on the site, in a wide variety of price ranges. Using the filter feature, select “Apartment or Condo” in the Property Type category; you can further refine your search by amenities, location and more. Some reservation requests take up to 24 hours to be confirmed by the owner; however an increasing number of properties are available via instant confirmation. Cancellation deadlines vary.
We found some beautiful and unique condo rentals on VRBO. For example: a beachfront penthouse that sleeps four, a condominium that sleeps six in the heart of downtown, and a house on a working coffee farm all for under $200/night. The downside: cleaning and service fees are often more than the price of a one night stay. Use this site for longer stays in order to make it worth your while.
Booking.com
Booking.com is known for affordable hotel lodging, but the site also has an increasing number of condos and other private rentals available. Activate the “Vacation Homes” filter to exclude hotels and only see condominiums and other vacation rentals. While this site has fewer listings than our top pick, we like that it offers more options on the mountainous side of Kailua-Kona. When condos were listed on both VRBO and Booking.com, we found rates on average are slightly more affordable at this site. We also appreciate their upfront pricing, instant confirmation and flexible cancellation policy.
