Atlanta is home to an impressive collection of extended-stay hotels, which offer visitors the chance to enjoy home-like amenities while visiting town. These lodging choices provide kitchens, laundry services and more space than typical hotel rooms, so they’re perfect for visitors coming to town on business or looking to relocate to the area.
TravelMag has compared the various extended stay options in Atlanta and selected six in different price ranges. While all of them are recommended by our editors and offer similar amenities, they each provide something a little different to suit both your budget and your needs while traveling.
The Georgian Terrace
From $129/night
If luxury and style trump budgetary concerns, you can’t do much better than The Georgian Terrace. The hotel itself is something of an Atlanta landmark, having first opened in 1911 and since then, having played host to countless celebrities including the entire cast of “Gone With The Wind,” F. Scott Fitzgerald and Walt Disney. You can follow in the footsteps of the rich and famous by taking up residency here yourself by choosing from either one-, two-, or three-bedroom suites, each with one or two bathrooms. All suites have washers and dryers, full kitchens, flat-screen HDTV, and large closets, and range from 850 square feet to 1,740 square feet. The rooftop pool is a hard-to-beat amenity, and for all the poshness you get here, the prices can start to look downright reasonable.
Sonder – Baltimore Place
From $118/night
Extended stay visitors can enjoy all the comforts of home at Sonder – Baltimore Place. It’s located in Atlanta’s bustling Midtown neighborhood, close to businesses and entertainment options, and less than a 10-minute drive or public transit ride to downtown. Sonder – Baltimore Place’s one-bedroom unit is ideal for solo travelers or couples. The units include in-suite laundry and fully equipped kitchens. Sonder uses an app for contactless check-in and to provide 24/7 customer support throughout your stay. Bookings of seven nights or more can save 30% or more per night.
Residence Inn Atlanta Downtown
From $115/night
Owned by the Marriott chain, Residence Inns consistently get good marks by travelers and offer a setting that feels slightly more upscale than some other extended-stay properties. As such, the rates are also near the high end of the spectrum for this type of lodging, and the room prices at this location put it on par with — and even slightly above — The Georgian Terrace. A more affordable option here is to go with a studio that features a queen bed plus rollaway and a kitchenette. If budgetary concerns aren’t an issue, or you need more space, you can choose a one-bedroom suite that has a separate dining and living area, each with its own TV. A grocery shopping service is available for busy executives and all rooms come with free WiFi. Plus, there’s a daily hot breakfast buffet and evening snacks with free beer and wine from Monday to Wednesday.
Staybridge Suites Atlanta-Buckhead
From $89/night
Also located in the entertainment district of Buckhead is Staybridge Suites Atlanta-Buckead, another offering from the IHG hotel group (Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, etc). There’s an indoor heated pool and whirlpool to help you relax at the end of a long workday as well as a “Sundowner Reception” every Tuesday through Thursday night featuring a light meal and complimentary drinks. Rooms have an apartment feel to them with tiny kitchens featuring full-sized refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves and everything else you’d expect to be able to be self-sufficient while staying as a guest. A 3-mile shuttle service is also provided. Rates are on the lower end of the spectrum, so this is another bargain in Buckhead.
Sonder – Baltimore Place
From $167/night
Sonder also offers options for larger groups. The Baltimore Place building has two-bedroom apartments for rent, including penthouse options, that can comfortably sleep up to six people. The Penthouse has a private balcony, fully-equipped kitchen and separate dining area. Long-term visitors will enjoy access to in-suite laundry, high speed WiFi and the rooftop terrace. The on-site fitness center is open 24 hours a day. Sonder offers discounts for stays of seven nights or more, up to 30% off the nightly rate. Customer support is available 24/7 in Sonder’s convenient app.
Extended Stay American – Atlanta – Vinings
From $76/night
This no-frills hotel is located a bit out of the center town and some of the furnishings are a bit dated, but but it does have good rates. You can get a room here in the US$70 range, and it will include a fully equipped kitchen, free WiFi, a daily “grab-and-go” breakfast, and they’ll even accommodate your pet if you’re traveling with one. The hotel is located within walking distance to a wide ranges of shopping and dining options and the 16-mile drive into town takes about 20 minutes. There’s a coin laundry on site as well as a very basic fitness room and an outdoor pool that’s opened seasonally. Also, according to reviews, the hospitality of the staff simply can’t be beat. Neither can the price!
