Marina Bay in Singapore epitomises all that is cutting edge and brash about the eminent South East Asian nation. A walk along Marina Bay’s 3.5km waterfront promenade takes you past some of the world’s most modern skyscrapers and ambitious architecture. Probe a little deeper and you may find some of the finest dining and best hotels in this part of the world.
Finding the right hotel in Singapore’s Marina Bay can be tricky, especially if you’re too busy to trawl through the many options available. Therefore we have compiled a list of five excellent hotels in Marina Bay to help whittle down the choice to a core of the best, based on considerations like price, location and each hotel’s range of facilities.
THE FULLERTON BAY HOTEL
Privates from $335/ night
For those seeking a location right by the waters of Marina Bay in Singapore, the Fullerton Bay Hotel has you covered. What’s your definition of luxury? An elegant outdoor pool with views over Marina Bay? Check. Maybe it’s access to modern technology, with an iPod dock, flat-screen TV and a Nespresso coffee machine? Check. Bathtub and Molton Brown toiletries for a relaxing soak after a long day? Check. In addition the hotel has a hot-tub, fitness centre and a bar.
AMOY BY FAR EAST HOSPITALITY
Privates from $223/ night
AMOY by Far East Hospitality may have one star fewer than the other hotels on this list, but there is no sacrifice in the quality of stay as a result. While rooms are a little less spacious than some, the excellent location by Raffles Place MRT station, and amenities like a minibar, coffee machine, desk and iPod dock all make for a very comfortable stay. All rooms have a view, hairdryer, air conditioning and free toiletries. As an added bonus, breakfast is also included in the price.
PAN PACIFIC SINGAPORE
Privates from $190/ night
It’s a challenge to comprehend how a hotel with as many great facilities as Pan Pacific Singapore can be bagged for such a reasonable price. There are no fewer than six choices of place to dine in the hotel, which might explain why their gym is so large and is available for guests to use along with the hammam, outdoor pool and sauna. For an additional charge there is a tennis court and we haven’t even had chance to say much about the large, well-appointed rooms that provide everything you could reasonably hope for in a 5-star hotel room.
MANDARIN ORIENTAL
Privates from $368/ night
Neighbouring the Pan Pacific is the Mandarin Oriental, the kind of hotel that takes 5-star life up a notch. Think yoga classes, outdoor pools with cityscape views, floor-to-ceiling windows and surround sound audio systems in the rooms. There’s a cocktail bar with evening entertainment, an Italian restaurant by the pool and the rooms include a seating area, minibar, en-suite bathroom with a tub and a shower, and air conditioning.
THE RITZ-CARLTON, MILLENIA
Privates from $320/ night
Technically the Ritz-Carlton has earned one additional star to its existing five; on site restaurant Summer Pavilion has one Michelin star. Another restaurant, Colony offers what it terms heritage cuisine in a setting influenced by British Colonialism. Prim and proper is the style that holds sway in the exclusive Club Lounge, while lavish rooms offer 46 inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, dressing gowns and bathrooms with a tub. If that was not enough pampering, there’s a walk-in closet and a great location minutes from Marina Bay.
