The vast, mainly Renaissance, palace is one of the jewels in the crown of a city brimming with remarkable architectural and historical landmarks and places of interest. Those who come to visit can explore several museums including the Palatine Gallery and the Modern Art Gallery, as well as the pristinely landscaped Boboli Gardens, known as the ‘green lung’ of Florence. We’ve compared the best ways to visit the palace below.

Tickets

Entry tickets to the Pitti Palace start at around €16 euros for adults, with children aged up to 18 going free. Tickets include admission to all of the various galleries housed within the museum, and visitors can also add entrance to Boboli Gardens for an additional €6 euros. Opening hours for the attraction are 8.15am to 6.30pm Tuesdays to Sundays and closed on Mondays. Also on site are a bookshop, a café and a cloakroom.

Tours

While visiting Pitti Palace independently can be a perfectly rewarding experience, there’s no substitute for an organised tour during which you can benefit from the insights of an experienced guide. There is a wide choice of both group and private tours of the palace available that include at least one of the venue’s galleries, and can also include a look around Boboli Gardens. Guided tours of the palace tend to run for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.

If you’d like to visit the palace but aren’t so fussed about going inside, Pitti Palace also features on the itinerary of several guided tours that include visits to at least one other attraction as part of the package. For example, you can book a 2.5-hour combo tour that includes a photo stop outside the palace, as well as the majestic Florence Duomo Complex and the picture-postcard Pontevecchio, for around €19 per person. Most tours take place as part of a small group with an expert guide for company, or for a more intimate and exclusive experience, there are also some private tours available that include a stop at Pitti Palace.
