Although named the English Riviera with a healthy sense of tongue-in-cheek, Torquay is a popular English seaside resort with good reason. Some of the best beaches in England (it’s all relative) can be found in this region of Devon, with Torquay being especially close to Babbicombe and Oddicombe beaches. There are plenty of lovely walks along the coast from Torquay and the town itself is infused with Victorian relics, such as those found at Bygones near Torquay town centre.
Ultimately the main draw of Torquay is the sea, and hotels along the seafront are the most prized of all. We decided to trawl through each one and look at their prices, location, facilities and cleanliness to find the best; these are our favourite five seafront hotels in Torquay.

Less than 200 metres from the beach and located in the centre of Torquay, The Heritage Hotel is a good value choice with pleasant rooms, although some are starting to feel a little worn. But it is the slew of excellent facilities that really bring out the value for money here: A swimming pool, terrace and on site coffee house complement the a la carte restaurant. Breakfast is included in the price and can even be delivered to your room.

The Imperial is a gorgeous old building with commanding views out across Torbay. This is regal Victorian seaside glamour at its best. The house restaurant has won an AA Rosette, there is a swimming pool, jacuzzi, bar and a spa with a long list of available treatments. For an additional charge you can use the tennis court and that is all before you reach the rooms, which have a sitting area, flatscreen TV, safety deposit box, free wifi and toiletries, among other facilities.
