For anyone flying into St. Thomas Airport in the US Virgin Islands who needs a car on arrival, dotted around the terminal are several reputable car rental agencies.
Known for its idyllic beaches and world-class snorkelling spots, there’s plenty to see and do on the gateway isle of the U.S. Virgin Islands, making hiring a car during your stay a sensible choice for those seeking freedom and flexibility during their stay. All of the car rental companies at St Thomas Airport – also known as Cyril E. King International Airport – are located within easy reach of the terminal via a free shuttle service. Here’s our pick of the top two companies for finding a cheap car rental at St Thomas Airport.
National
Our first pick for finding an affordable rental at St Thomas is National, whose airport office is a quick shuttle run from the terminal and is open daily from 6am to 9pm, with an after-hours service too. They currently offer around 16 cars to rent from St Thomas, with everything from small to large vehicles – including SUVs – among their fleet. When it comes to cheaper options, we found a 4-seater Chevrolet Spark available for $590 for a week’s rental in December – which happens to be one of the best times to visit the Virgin Islands. For something a touch bigger that won’t break the bank, you can also get a 5-seater Toyota Yaris for just a few dollars more.
Alamo
Our next choice is Alamo, who are also within quick reach of the airport terminal by shuttle. When we searched for affordable rental cars with Alamo at St Thomas, we found eight vehicles available, including a Toyota Yaris hatchback for $698 per week and a Toyota Corolla sedan for about $30 dollars more. As with National, the Alamo offices at St Thomas are also open every day of the week, from 6am to 9pm, and for those flying into the airport very early in the morning or late at night, they offer an after-hours service which must be pre-arranged with a surcharge by booking at least 24 hours in advance.
